ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LIMA PERU

Upon arrival at the International Airport in Lima, you’ll enjoy a warm reception and transfer to your hotel.

Half-day Lima City Tour. In the historic district, you will see the Main Square, surrounded by the Cathedral and the Government Palace, and the Monastery of San Francisco. The tour continues through the residential areas of Lima and ends in the modern district of Miraflores on the Pacific.

DAY 2: LIMA TO PARACAS ISLANDS AND NAZCA. (B)

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Bus transfer to Paracas for about 5 hours. Arrive to Paracas and you will head out on a tour of the spectacular Ballestas Islands. Home to hundreds of thousands of seabirds, sea lions, cormorants, and Humboldt penguins, the Ballestas Islands are one of the most breathtaking sights along the Southern coastal desert of Peru. Your motorboat ride will whisk you from the Paracas bay (where you are likely to spot a few friendly dolphins) to the Candelabro figure, which is carved into the Cliffside and visible only from offshore. Next, continue to the Ballestas, and make sure to bring a warm waterproof jacket and a hat for this excursion.

After you have had your fill of the Paracas sunshine, you will take a bus to Nazca city.

(You can also stop in Ica city and take the sandboarding tour in the sand dune oasis called Huacachina, as well as a wine bodega, where you can taste some of Peru’s finest Pisco brandy and wines)

DAY 3: NAZCA LINES FLIGHT – LIMA. (B)

Early breakfast. Early in the morning, you will transfer to the Nazca airport for a short overflight to see the famous Nazca Lines. The overflight includes sightings of 12 Nazca Lines, including the monkey, eagle, and astronaut. The Nazca Lines were etched into the desert floor thousands of years ago, but are still visible today due to the incredibly dry climate. There are many speculations about the purpose and meaning of the lines, but none of them are conclusive. Take the overflight and try to unravel the mystery of the lines for yourself!

After your Nazca Lines flight, you’ll take a comfortable coach back to Lima.

DAY 4: ARRIVE IN CUZCO (B)

After breakfast, you’ll bet transferred to the airport for your departure to Cuzco (domestic airfare between Lima and Cuzco is not included in price). Free day to acclimatize to the altitude.

DAY 5. SACRED RIVER AND VALLEY OF THE INCAS. (B.L)

Breakfast. Early in the morning we pick you up from the hotel and venture into the Urubamba Valley, known commonly as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the beautiful market or ruins of Pisaq, then we will continue the trip to one of the best restaurants of the Sacred Valley, “Tunupa” restaurant, for a buffet lunch. Continue the trip to the Inca Fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo, which were built to guard the entrance to the Sacred Valley and to protect the opening from possible invasion from tribes, and eventually the Spanish. Hotel in Ollantaytambo.

DAY 6: MACHUPICCHU FULL DAY TOUR. (B)

Early in the morning, take the hour and a half train journey to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes you will be welcomed by our transfer. Then you’ll take the bus up to the mountain of Machu Picchu, the Sacred City of the Incas, You’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the canyon formed by the Urubamba River. Once you’ve entered the citadel, you can walk along the terrace, steps, ceremonial centers and housing. According to locals, this area is a concentration of energy due to the composition of quartz found in the stones. After free time for lunch, return by shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes. Rest, relax, or shop in town before returning to Cuzco by train in the afternoon. At the Cuzco train station, you’ll be transferred to your hotel to rest for the night.

DAY 7: CITY TOUR CUSCO. (B)

Morning free to relax and shop in town. In the afternoon, we will pick you up to take you on a Cuzco city tour, to see the important buildings and ruins in and around Cuzco. Start in the Plaza de Armas, visit the Cathedral and the Church of Santo Domingo, which was built on top of Korikancha, the Inca Temple of the Sun. After that we will continue the trip to ruins of Sacsayhuamán, Tambomach’ay and Q’enqo in the outskirts of the city. Visit these ruins in the late afternoon, and enjoy panoramic views of Cuzco.

 DAY 8: BUS TRANSFER CUZCO TO PUNO (B. L.)

Travel by comfortable coach through the majestic Andes mountain range and soak in breathtaking panoramic landscapes. Traveling parallel to the train tracks, you’ll stop at areas of interest along the way, such as the Temple of Andahuaylillas (Sixtine Chapel of America), Raqchi or the Temple of Wiracocha, Museum of Pucará and Complex of Kalassaya. Lunch included on the way. Afterwards, you will hop back on the bus and later arrive conveniently at your hotel in Puno.

DAY 9: THE HIGHEST NAVIGABLE LAKE IN THE WORLD & UROS & TAQUILE ISLANDS. (B.L)

Breakfast at the hotel and depart from Puno and head out across Lake Titicaca toward Uros, a group of man-made floating islands constructed entirely out of reeds. The friendly Uru people are happy to welcome you to their islands, and will share with you their history, culture and traditions. Take a boat out to the islands and learn how the Uru built their floating homes entirely out of totora reeds and rope. Then, travel on to Taquile, an island untouched by the mainland’s modernity. The local inhabitants, known as Taquileños, still wear traditional clothing and are known for their high-quality handicrafts. While the women make yarn and weave, knitting is actually done exclusively by men. Enjoy a small lunch on Taquile before heading back to your Puno hotel.

DAY 10: PUNO TO LIMA. (B)

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport of Juliaca (about two hours from Puno city) to flight to Lima and connection with the international flight.
(If you have a short budget you can also back to Cuzco by bus and take the flight back to Lima for a round trip flight Lima-Cuzco-Lima).
