Well known as White City because of the constructions made of “sillar”. Sillar is a type of volcanic stone.
Three volcanoes crown the city of Arequipa: Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.
First Day: City Tour
Transfer to the hotel.
P.m. City Tour, visit to Santa Catalina Convent .Monastery jealously closed to the world from 1.580 to 1.970, the Cathedral is a beautiful Church built in 1 656 with 70 columns and a Belgian device, one of the greatest of South America, Compañía de Jesus Church(Cupula de San Ignacio). From this point you will have a nice overview to Yanahuara, Chilliona Valley and San Lazaro place.
Second Day: Colca
08:00 Leave Arequipa towards nor west direcction, Yura, small valley with thermal springs, behind Chachani snowy mountain we’ll have the opportunity to see wild vicuñas in Pampa Cañahuas, Alpazas & llamas in Tocra, some birds like flamingoes, ibis, andean gooze, ducks, andean eagle “Kara Kara”. Outlook of the volcanoes in Patapampa (4,800 m. - 15,000ft.). See the Ampato, Sabancaya, Walca Walca, etc. Chivay, capital of the valley. Afternoon visit to the thermal springs and pools in La Calera, you can enjoy dinner with a typical folkloric shows (Not Included). Overnight at Colca Lodge or similar. (L, D)
Third Day; COLCA CANYON
Breakfast at hotel, early morning after breakfast leave for a full day excursion in the left shore, beautiful typical towns, like Yanque and Maca, colonial churches, gently people with typical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre inca terraces still in use with andean growings like corn, quinua, kiwicha (amaranto), etc. Lookout of the cross of the condor: see the deep of the canyon and the flight of the condor. Stone scale models, some pre inca graves. Afternoon at free. Overnight at Colca Lodge or similar (B,L,D)
Fourth Day AREQUIPA
Breakfast at hotel, morning at leisure and in the afternoon pick up you to return to Arequipa (arriving at 18:00 hrs approx). Transfer to your hotel. (B,L) or to the Airport.
