It is located at 8 hours from Cusco city at the South East. The altitude is about 3.800 meters above see level. Here is located the highest navigable lake of the world "Titicaca Lake", with cold temperature, spectacular views and rich archaeological culture. The legend tells that from this lake came out Manco Capac, the first INCA and Mama Ocllo (his wife)to found this city. In Puno a visit to the famous Uros floating island will be great. In this place the inhabitants are descendents from old natives. The Sillustani Chullpas, were probably constructed by the tribes who governed the domination Inca area. Here was developed the most important culture of the old Peru: Tiahuanaco Culture.
Puno, is considered "Folk Capital of Peru because of its colorful dances and folk music.
First Day: Puno
Transfer to Juliaca airport.
P.m. takes frees, to rest.
Second Day: Tour Uros – Taquile Island
A.M. Pick up from the hotel and bus to the port to crossed by boat along Titicaca Lake, arriving to one of the most important Islands: Uros, made by totora. Here people dedicate to hunting and fishes. Visit of 3 hours. Lunch
P.M. Visit Taquile Island .This island is a rugged ruddy color, with a wonderful contrasts with the blue lake and sky. Taquile is littered with Inca and pre-Inca stone ruins. Taquile has been inhabited for 10,000 years, and life remains starkly traditional Taquile natives. On this days there are still around 3,000 natives or so. The tourist are allowed to stay on private houses, being this a unique experience. Their dresses are famous too: Taquile textiles are some of the finest in Peru.
Return to Puno and transfer to the hotel.
Third Day: Out
Transfer to the airport or Bus station
