Chiclayo Full Archaeology 3 days/ 2 nights
DAY 01: CHICLAYO IN/ TOUR HUACA RAJADA / TOUR HUACA VENTARRON/ COLLUD TEMPLE
Transfer to hotel. We start the excursion. We start the excursion going to Huaca Rajada Archaeological Complex, the place where the Tomb of the Lord of Sipan was found. Here we will also visit the site museum. We continue until we arrive at the Archaeological Site of Ventarron, religious sanctuary, where we find the most ancient mural of America at the “Temple of the Captive Deer” . The mural is 4000 years old and depicts a colorful net and inside there is a caught deer. Here we can also find the “fogones”, place which was used to make offerings and many tombs, at this late pre-ceramic setlement. Then we visit the Temple of Collud, which comprises a platform of 150 meters width x 400 meters long, used for religious purposes. This is the biggest temple of the late formative period (2500 to 3000 years old) which is known. Collud is decorated with a Spider God in high relief, and feline figures, two-headed snakes and others. Overnight in Chiclayo.
DAY 02: TOUR SICAN MUSEUM / POMAC FOREST/ TUCUME PYRAMIDS/ HUACA LAS BALSAS
We will discover the amazing Sican Culture, visiting the Sican National Museum, located in Ferreñafe city, there we can find the pieces found in the Tomb of the Lord of Sican, in “Huaca El Oro”(“Temple of The Gold”) in the Batan Grande Complex. According to the legend, it was God Naylamp who made the Sican people, and is shown in many of the ceramics. The Sican or Lambayeque are knwon for their metallurgical art like funerary masks made of gold or the “tumi” (ceremonial knife). Then we will head to the Pomac Forest Historical Sanctuary, which is full of carobs trees and zapotes, and is home of plenty of fauna. The Complex comprises 20 pyramids. We will visit “Huaca El Oro” and “Huaca las Ventanas” (Temple “The Windows”); also the milenary tree, a carob tree which is more than 500 years old. We will go up to the vantage point from where we get a great view of the valley and the surroundings of the dry forest. After this visit we go to the Tucume Pyramids Arachaeological Complex, a valley with 26 pyramids of mud bricks like “Huaca Larga”, “Huaca Las Estacas”, “Huaca 1”, among others, which are witnesses of the most outstanding time of the Lambayeque culture. We will also visit the site museum, which houses Lambayeque culture ceramics. Then we visit “Huaca Las Balsas” (The Temple of the Rafts), decorated with mythics motives. The main theme is about sea nature: birds, sea waves, bird-men and mythic birds rowing rafts or boats. We can see also nets and sea birds in the walls. Overnight in Chiclayo.
DAY 03: TOUR HUACA CHOTUNA / BRUNING MUSEUM / ROYAL TOMBS OF SIPAN MUSEUM / CHICLAYO OUT
Excursion to the Chotuna Chornancap Archaeological Complex, where we find Huaca Gloria, decorated with friezes similar to the ones in Huaca Arco Iris (Temple of the Rainbow) in Trujillo. At the main facade we can see five two-headed snakes located one next to the other. There are also animals like squirrels, fish, birds and snakes. The figures are related to the Lord Naylamp’s legend. Then we visit the The Bruning Arachaeological National Museum, which houses the “Room of the Gold”, showing more than 500 pieces of Goldsmith. We can also learn here about the more than 50 years of Hand Heinrich Brüning research, founder of the Museum. We continue our journey visiting the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum in Lambayeque, where we find the original remains of the Lord of Sipan, and also more than 400 pieces like: earrings, necklaces, jewelry, ornaments and headdresses made of gold, silver, turquoise, spondyllus, cotton and feathers. At an appropriate time, transfer to the bus agency or airport.
